Paloma Zabalgo, a lawyer specializing in Family Law and International Family Law, is the managing partner of the firm that bears her name in Madrid.
She has extensive experience in civil and commercial law, having worked in various law firms where she focused on Civil Law, Criminal Law, Commercial Law, and Contentious-Administrative matters.
Currently, she serves as the President of the Family and Inheritance Section of the Madrid Bar Association.
With over 20 years of experience and extensive knowledge of family law, she is a leading authority on all matters related to this area of law. This is evidenced by her stance on issues such as location-based inequality in the courts, economic consequences of divorce that create inequality between spouses, limitations on the use of the family home according to current jurisprudence, the obligation to avoid emotional manipulation of children, and minors being used as bargaining chips or in cases of international child abduction. Furthermore, she has analysed the changes in legislation related to shared guardianship and custody, which represent a significant rethinking of how Family Law is approached.
She holds a degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as a course in Community Law (European Union) from the same university. Currently, she is a doctoral candidate at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, working on her thesis on ‘The Process of Child Abduction’.
She has acted as an expert in various articles and media, including radio, press, and television. Additionally, she has served as an author and coordinator for the Tirant lo Blanch Family Law Yearbook and other specialized books on family law.
Paloma is a member of the Madrid Bar Association, the Spanish Association of Family Lawyers, the International Association for Workers’ Mobility (AIAL), the International Association of Family Law Jurists (AIJUDEFA), and the International Union of Lawyers (UIA).
Furthermore, she holds the position of President of the Family and Inheritance Section at the Madrid Bar Association. Additionally, she is a professor at the Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía (ISDE) and mentors trainees in the Master’s Degree in Law at the Universidad Autónoma and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, among others.
