Google AnalyticsLEGAL FRAMEWORK

Article 22(2) of Law 34/2002, of July 11, on information society services and electronic commerce (hereinafter referred to as the LSSI), in relation to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016, on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (hereinafter referred to as the GDPR) and Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the protection of personal data and guarantee of digital rights (hereinafter referred to as the LOPDGDD), states that:

  • Service providers may use data storage and retrieval devices on recipients’ terminal equipment, provided that they have given their consent after being provided with clear and complete information about their use, in particular, about the purposes of data processing, in accordance with the provisions of the Personal Data Protection regulations.
  • Where technically feasible and effective, the recipient’s consent to accept data processing may be obtained through the appropriate browser settings or other applications.
  • The above shall not prevent the possible technical storage or access solely for the purpose of transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network or, to the extent strictly necessary, for the provision of an information society service expressly requested by the recipient.

The GDPR, in its recital 30, mentions these technologies and their impact on data protection, indicating that natural persons may be associated with online identifiers provided by their devices, applications, tools, and protocols, such as internet protocol addresses, session identifiers in the form of “cookies” or other identifiers, such as radio frequency identification tags. This may leave traces that, in particular when combined with unique identifiers and other information received by servers, may be used to create profiles of natural persons and identify them.

This cookie policy has been revised in accordance with the new cookie usage rules that the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) published on July 28, 2020, amending the Guide on the use of cookies to adapt it to the Guidelines on consent modified in May 2020 by the European Data Protection Committee (EDPB) (Guidelines 05/2020) on consent. Specifically, technical measures have been taken to ensure that the “continue browsing” option is not configured as an option to obtain consent, and that “cookie walls” are not implemented.

In compliance with the established regulations, we provide you with information regarding the “cookies” used below.

INFORMATION ABOUT COOKIE USAGE

We inform you that this website you have accessed uses its own and third-party ‘cookies’ to offer you a better experience and service. By browsing or using our services, the user does not accept the use we make of the ‘cookies’, but rather their consent is collected expressly, and without blocking, in case of rejection, said browsing capacity.

Excluded from compliance with the obligations established in article 22.2 of the LSSI are cookies used for any of the following purposes:

  • Solely allowing communication between the user’s equipment and the network.
  • Strictly providing a service expressly requested by the user.

WHAT IS A COOKIE

“Cookies” are small files that some platforms, such as web pages, can install on your computer, smartphone, tablet, connected TV, etc., when accessing them. Their functions can be very diverse: storing your browsing preferences, collecting statistical information, enabling certain technical functionalities, storing and retrieving information about the browsing habits or preferences of a user or their equipment to the point, sometimes, depending on the information they contain and the way you use your equipment, they can recognize it. A cookie is stored on a computer to personalize and facilitate the user’s navigation to the maximum extent. ‘Cookies’ play a very important role in improving the user experience of using the web.

In other words, a cookie is a piece of information sent by a website and stored in the user’s browser, so that the website can check the user’s previous activity. A cookie does not only identify a person but can incorporate a combination of computer-browser-user.

Why are they important?

  • From a technical point of view, they allow websites to work more agilely and adapt to user preferences, such as storing the language, the country’s currency, or detecting the access device.
  • They establish levels of protection and security that prevent or hinder cyberattacks against the website or its users.
  • They allow media managers to know statistical data collected in cookies to improve the quality and experience of their services.
They are used to optimize the advertising we show to users, offering the one that best suits their interests.

TYPES OF COOKIES

According to who manages the equipment or domain from which cookies are sent and processes the data obtained, we can distinguish:

Own cookies: those sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a computer or domain managed by the publisher itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided.

Third-party cookies: those sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a computer or domain that is not managed by the publisher, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through cookies. In the event that cookies are served from a computer or domain managed by the publisher itself, but the information collected through them is managed by a third party, they cannot be considered as own cookies if the third party uses them for its own purposes (for example, improving the services it provides or providing advertising services on behalf of other entities).

According to the purpose for which the data obtained through ‘cookies’ is processed, the website may use:

Technical Cookies: These are cookies that allow the user to navigate through a website, platform, or application and use the different options or services available, including those that the publisher uses to enable the management and operation of the website and enable its functions and services.

Preference or Customization Cookies: These are cookies that allow the website to remember information so that the user can access the service with certain characteristics that may differentiate their experience from that of other users, such as language, the number of results to show when the user performs a search, the appearance or content of the service depending on the type of browser through which the user accesses the service, or the region from which the user accesses the service, etc.

Analytics or Measurement Cookies: These are cookies that allow the entity responsible for them to track and analyse the behaviour of users of the websites to which they are linked, including quantifying the impacts of advertisements. The information collected through these types of cookies is used to measure the activity of websites, applications, or platforms, in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of the usage data by the users of the service.

Behavioral Advertising Cookies: These are cookies that store information on user behavior obtained through continuous observation of their browsing habits, allowing the development of a specific profile to display advertising based on it.
According to their expiration, the cookies used can have the following types of expiration:

Session Cookies: These are designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website. They are usually used to store information that is only of interest to keep for the provision of the service requested by the user on a single occasion (for example, a list of purchased products) and disappear when the session ends.

Persistent Cookies: These are cookies in which the data is still stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the cookie’s controller, which can range from a few minutes to several years. This website uses both temporary session cookies and permanent cookies.

In some cases, if any of these cookies are disabled, you may not receive our content and services correctly. In other cases, the website may continue to function. In any case, we want to inform you that the information collected by these cookies about the use of our website and the success of the ads displayed on it allows us to improve our services and obtain income that allows us to offer you many contents at a lower cost.
